Petal Innovations: your show was absolutely hilarious!!! I loved all of the music that was parody-ed to fit the theme of shopping ("I knew you were trouble..." referring to the shoes you were buying). It was super entertaining but also technically accurate. The boys in the front row were cheering you on the whole time (however, they were very disturbing during the ballad and took away from its effect and beauty. Tell them not to do that).
Pearl River Central: the ballad ("Orphans of God") was awesome; your soloist was great. The sound that y'all put out was very good for being a smaller sized choir. Also, your show reminded me so much of when I was in show choir :D
Jackson Prep: I know many of you were disappointed when you received 2nd runner up (after getting both best vocals and show design), however you should be very proud of the show you put out. Your opener was very visually appealing with the lifts and sharp choreography. Your vocals shined in the ballad with the "Glory, Glory." Your show is very well put together (love the theme!), and I think will do well the rest of the season.
Petal Soundsations: I was surprised last week at South Jones that y'all didn't get best visuals. Your choreography was on point. I'm still not sure I like the theme very much, but the set is effective. The ballad was better this week, in my opinion. Only one thing--the male soloist in the ballad, please make sure you put a "t" in "often" (it is very blatantly "I have offfen dreamed..." which annoys me a little) :D
Auburn: I came in having no idea what your show was about. I knew the theme the instant you started. Absolutely phenomenal interpretation of "The Lion King." All of your characters/soloists are great in musicality and acting (Timon and Pumba were hilarious). The show reminded me very much of the Moses show a couple years ago (which I also loved). Your vocals are the best I've ever heard from Auburn. The visuals, particularly in the death scene and fight scene, were spectacular. Costumes were off the chain. A few notes to Auburn:
I believe it was the Auburn Women's group in the front rows cheering you on. They would not stop screaming the ENTIRE time. While that is effective for dance breaks, it is quite ineffective during the rest of the show (I literally could not hear what the choir was singing for a good portion of the show), particularly during the ballad.
Timon, don't be afraid of the microphone.
All of your attitudes off the stage were inspiring. A lot of you immediately went into the auditorium to watch Jackson Prep and made such great comments about them. That meant a lot.
I hope the Auburn guy that was injured (was it wrist or ankle?) is okay.
To PRCC: you run a fabulous competition. All of the students are so positive and friendly. The PAC is beautiful (I wish I had a space like that when I was in college) and so comfortable to sit in (yay leg-room). Sad that I didn't get to see your acapella group perform (formerly right before final awards).
Oh, and also. To all the fab Auburn girls who saw me and knew my name:
That was seriously the most hilarious and surprising thing I've ever experienced. Y'all are awesome. Yes I do exist, and I am a real person. I just didn't know I was so popular from SCC. :DDD
While there are only 3 large mixed groups, I think it will be extremely close between those three. I will be here for finals definitely (and maybe some of prelims, depending on when I can get away).
