Sergeant First Class Carla M. Loy Song studied trumpet under Ed Cord at Indiana University where she was a member of the Brass Ensemble and Indiana University Athletic Bands. After earning her Bachelor of Music Education, Sgt. 1st Class Loy Song taught choral music at Mt. Zion Jr./Sr. High School in Mt. Zion, IL. She completed a Master of Music from the University of Maryland where she studied with Chris Gekker and also served as an adjunct faculty member in instrumental education. Sgt. First Class Loy Song joined the West Point Band in 2007 as a member of the Concert Band and moved to the Jazz Knights in the fall of 2012. She has been the lead singer of the Benny Havens Band since its inception in 2010.
