I saw home wood live yesterday and they were simply incredible. I don't see how Wheaton (a group who has only won the choreography caption once this year) will be able to take that award away from homewood. Sorry Mr. Guitar but you are wrong on this one
Actually, I think he makes a valid point. Homewood this year is great with their choreography, but Wheaton is another level of performing their choreography. They both bring different styles of choreography, but Wheaton at worst will tie Homewood in that category. I've seen both groups from a live feed (and Homewood in person twice) and can confidently say that the only captions that I can realistically expect Homewood to get at this point are Best Vocals and Best Female Soloist (if given out). I'm sure they will bring it because Wheaton is coming down, but I do not see Homewood actually taking Best Choreography from Wheaton.

In my opinion, the fact that people think homewood will take best choreography away from Wheaton is just hard to comprehend. WWS choreography is impeccable this year, their choreographer has outdone themselves. After seeing videos and seeing classics live I can confidently say homewood will not take best choreo.
GC: WWS (Vocals, Visuals, Overall Effect)
1RU: Oak Grove
2RU: Enterprise
3RU: Homewood
4RU: Jackson Prep
It's tough because there are only 5 finalists, when there are so many good groups. I've left out Brandon, South Jones, Greneda, Jackson Academy, PRC--all of which could make finals. It will be a crazy fight to make finals!
cough* don't Forget Encore *Cough* ---- they've beaten: Brandon, South, Homewood, Madison Central, and Oak Grove... I feel where you're coming from Grenada... Middle division came to play this year.
GC - Wheaton (BV,OE)
1RU - Homewood (BC)
2RU - Jackson Prep
3RU and 4RU - Brandon/Oak Grove/Grenada
Sadly won't be attending this event, but thought I would share my predictions! Not sure how to place Grenada but I wouldn't be surprised if they made finals. This is going to be a great competition, I really hope that their will be a live stream. Good luck to all groups competing!
Everybody sleeping on Grenada.they beat prep, home wood, south jones, opelika, and Brandon at least once this year! At least get some kind of props.
Wow. I actually forgot about a group in my predictions. Let's try again:
GC: Homewood (BV, tie for BC, soloist)
1RU: Wheaton (OE, tie for BC, BB)
2RU: Oak Grove
3RU: Brandon
4RU: Grenada
South Jones
Jackson Prep
Either way, I would not expect more than five points difference between the top two, probably even less with a Homewood victory. I think it is definitely possible for either Wheaton or Homewood to get BC, but it will come down to whoever sells it best on the 28th.

I can see where you're coming from on this. However, Grenada beat Homewood, South Jones, and Brandon all at their first competition. Homewood has since got first runner up and best vocals over Albertville and Opelika, as well as a win over a well respected Virginia show choir, Clover Hill, along with vocals and choreography. Brandon has since won with best vocals and choreography over Grenada.
That being said, I'll predict:
GC- Wheaton (BV, BC)
1RU- Homewood
2RU- Oak Grove
3RU- Brandon
4RU- Grenada
Thought I wouldn't be surprised to see Enterprise or Jackson Prep in finals in the place of Grenada. We will also get an idea of how Jackson Prep has improved this weekend at Homewood when they go up against Brandon, as well as some strong Alabama show choirs and a strong Petal.
I don't usually do predictions, but I figured I might give this one a shot.
GC - Wheaton (Vocals, Effect)
2nd - Homewood (Choreo.)
3rd and 4th - Brandon/Oak Grove
5th - Jackson Prep
I think the captions could be a toss up between Wheaton and Homewood. I also think Prep could move up a couple of spots. I'm sure they've been working really hard the past couple of weeks. I hope I get a chance to come to this competition considering it will be a down week for Albertville.
Pretty early out, but I guess my predictions mid-way through season are:
GC: Homewood (BV, tie for BC)
1RU: Wheaton (tie for BC, OE)
2RU: Oak Grove
3RU: Brandon
4RU: South Jones/Prep
Homewood has come a long way from their first performance in Jackson, and I think momentum has a chance to carry them to victory (and to their first winning streak since 2013). The big thing I remember from the Diamond Classic was how well their guys blended in the ballad in finals (keep in mind that they performed at midnight). If there is no tie for BC, then I would probably say that Wheaton comes away with it. I don't know if any of you have had the chance to see their show, but it is really entertaining. I almost think of it as a blend between Auburn's and Albertville's shows from this year.

This is a pretty late night for middle schoolers! And lots of middle school groups :D
Interesting to see that Clinton is coming, I wonder what other southern competition they'll be at? I'm thinking maybe Enterprise or a different Mississippi competition. Their middle school is going to John Hersey Chicagoland Showcase, so maybe they'll be there?
If I go to South Central Classic this year, that may be when I finalize my predictions about South Jones, Oak Grove, and Brandon. I will get to see Homewood this weekend and (hopefully) Enterprise as well, so they should be easier to guess by next week. Wheaton has consistently gone from 3rd in prelims to 2nd in finals this year, so it will be interesting to see if that holds up considering that we have Jackson Prep and Homewood here to potentially keep that streak alive. So far, I do not think I can predict the order, but the competition groups will probably be:
1-3: Homewood/Prep/Wheaton
4-5: SJ/Oak Grove
6-8: Enterprise/Brandon/Purvis
Wildcard: Grenada/JA
(no particular order in listings)
Of course, anything can happen, but it's probably safe to say that the finalists will be Homewood, Jackson Prep, Wheaton, South Jones, and Oak Grove. If it means anything to any of you who like to predict, I do believe one of the judges is Dwight Jordan's daughter, but outside of her, I have no knowledge of judges.
Schedule for Petal Invitational. Sorry if it is formatted kinda funky.
