what were the rest of the results?

We won't know those until someone looks at the score sheets and posts.
Mt. Zion and Findlay evidentally had rough prelim performances... but I heard that their finals performances were awesome. I also heard Momentum's finals performance was phenomenal.
I never get predictions right at Showstoppers. Buffalo Grove last year in Chicago, Center Grove in NY 2003, heck even Burroughs in LA 1997. The only times I got it right involved Grosse Pointe and they were so hands down it was ridiculous.

If you think about it...a "Best Choreography" caption is not necessarily descriptive of the group that should win the show portion of the competition. What if you have really good choreography, but it doesn't fit the music or it isn't clean. "Showmanship" or "Best Visuals" are probably better ways of describing the best show. The "General Effect" thing is a way of splitting music and show and creating one big caption for who looked and sounded really good and was entertaining. Its like getting Best Music and Best Visuals, but for impact rather than precision.
Has Showstoppers started calling their caption awards Best Choreography and Best Vocals- or is it still the General Effect things? My understanding was that the General Effect captions were slightly different than the Best__ captions... Anyone able to shed some light?

I'm pretty sure it's still good ole' General Effect, Best Music, and Best Visuals.

Hey Brendan! Keeping busy! As usual, we snuck out after the last group and just got back to Long Island. My group all had Mt. Z on "our sheets", but I guess that's why we're not adjudicators.
It's not new to have a split like this at showstoppers: In the 2003 Showstoppers NYC, Edgewood took the captions for Music and Visuals and took 1st RU overall, while Center Grove won the General Effect award and won the GC (first of now 3 years running, congrats CG).
Its not that hard to happen really. There are 4 General Effect Judges, 2 Music Judges and 2 Visual Judges. In the technical aspects (Music and Visual), if Mt. Zion only scored a few points above Findlay, there is plenty of room for Findlay to make that back in the General Effect catagories (which are both music and show based). It was probably really close.
That would be:
1st- Frank Paparone (Greece Athena HS, NY)
2nd- Joseph Mullin (Waltham HS, MA)
3rd- Andrea Deck (Gross Pointe S. HS, MI)
Finalist- Ross McCorkell (Dulles HS, TX)
Finalist- Allison Font (Greece Athena HS, NY)
