I have rehearsal till 2pm tomorrow so If I do go, I should get there around 5:30/6 just in time for finals. I'm still debating it though. If I don't come, Good Luck to all the choirs, especially my alma mater, Euclid!

I'm excited for this weekend...gonna be awesome...heres my "educated guess"

GC: Twinsburg/Beavercreek/Poca
1st RU: Beavercreek/Poca/Twinsburg
2nd RU: Poca/Beavercreek
3rd RU: Solon
4th RU: Euclid
5th RU: Medina

Potential upsetter: Ravenswood...i heard a lot of good things about them at marysville even though i didnt get to see them, i think they could potentially knock somebody off......maybe

I havent heard much about Twinsburg, so i wont give them a total lock on GC..I'm really excited to see VV again...they did really wonderful last week even though they didnt make finals and i think it will carry over to this week with another great performance...i honestly think that if they pull off an awesome show, they could get GC..ya never know with these things..i'm really interested in seing medina, this being their 1st year back competing

I would like to change my predictions after watching a couple groups in the past month i would like to change the placings

GC: Beavercreek
1 ru: Twinsburg
2 ru: Euclid
3 ru: Medina
4 ru: Solon
5 ru: Poca

I think beavercreek has a fantastic show this year and if they pull it off well at Garfield then they are sure to win they have nice vocals and sound and choreograpghy is very energetic! I haven't seen Twinsburg or Euclid but they are probably great too! I saw Medina and they have great vocals which will put them higher! Can't wait to get the results of this comp and to see if i was close. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE one week

I am so excited for this competition! If I don't have rehearsal this weekend, then I will try my best to make it up there.

First off, Congratulations to Garfield for their wins last night and I hope you guys are enjoying Mrs. Carey (I had her my freshman and sophomore year at Euclid) Tell her and Pernod I say hi

Now, it looks like everyone has the same predictions but different placings. The only group I've seen this year is Euclid when I was home for 6 weeks and saw one of their Christmas break rehearsals. (For those wondering about Euclid/if you care) I had saw them 2 weeks prior at their christmas concert and was surprised. I thought last year was one of their best seasons yet, but this year definately tops the 5 years we've been competing. They had lots of work to do after the concert and when I went to their rehearsal they had improved by 5 or 6 times. I think their vocals are really good this year (blend, overall sound), there were some problems last year. Choreo. is definately harder and more visual this year. Costumes are cool, haven't seen the set, and the combo sounds really good too. I definately think they will be surprising people, maybe in a good way or a bad way, depends on the person. I'm not saying that because I went there either. I said that last year and they did better than I was expecting and this year is even better)

Here are my predictions (NOT in ranking order, but in order of prelim times)...
Medina
Euclid
Beavercreek
Twinsburg
Poca
Solon

Class A
GC- Euclid/Beavercreek
1st RU- Beavercreek/Euclid
2nd RU- Medina
3rd RU- Strongsville

Class B
GC- Twinsburg
1st RU- Solon
2nd RU- Mayfield/Brush
3rd RU- Brush/Mayfield
4th RU-Midpark

Class C
GC- Poca
1st RU- Ada
2nd RU- Ravenswood
3rd RU- Rocky River
4th RU- Walsh

I'm not sure with caption awards, but this is based off of what I saw last year and the years before. This is just MY oponion, sorry if I didn't but your group where you think they should be, nothing personal at all. Again, Congrats to Garfield, and good luck to ALL the choirs this weekend!!!

Edit: Okay, I just watched a video from Euclid's rehearsal a few days ago. WOW. They've improved and changed so much since I saw them 2 or 3 weeks ago! Vocals, Choreo. (some of their pit was missing so it was hard to tell) I think they have a good chance for Top 3, possibly the Top 2 and some of the caption awards. I hate saying this since I did go there so it does sound bias, but I wouldn't waste my time typing all this if it wasn't true. I didn't when I was in the group, and i don't need to now. I just feel like those who haven't heard of Euclid or haven't seen them should know what kind of group it is becoming/what to expect when they see them. Their show is definately different this year, (song choices/6 songs not 5) and their costumes are pretty cool. I'll put up predictions later in the week, but if I did have to pick my Top 3 now, it would def. be Twinsburg, Beavercreek, and Euclid (in no specific order)

the placements are very tough because of the unknowns that come with this group of schools. since Medina didn't compete last year, i have no idea how their program has progressed (or possible regressed). will they still have the same vocal power? is their combo still one of the best in the state of Ohio?
also, Poca was the winner last year (right?) and i'm sure they'll be motivated to defend their title. however this year's competition is far more difficult. will they fare just as well or suffer from the pressure?
and maybe the biggest wildcard in play here is Euclid. coming off a very successful and much improved season, they have the momentum to place higher than expected. but was last year a fluke?

this should prove to be a very interesting and entertaining competition. i look forward to seeing the results - it should be a good, early indication of the state of things in the Ohio competitive scene.

Lol. That suspenseful prediction was great!

JACOB!!! I think you might be wrong about one part! I dont think that the jazz band is doing the exhibition peformance before finals awards!!! I think that the Express Combo is doing some type of songs that Mark has or is arranging for them!! But, I talked to Mark and he said that they might not be ready soo it just might get thrown on the Jazz Band!!! I guess we'll see!!!

does it really matter nick. most of the combo IS in the jazz band...i think...idk. in any case, people, there will be some form of entertainment before the finals awards ceremony.

And with Cabell Midland dropping out, everyone before then i think will be moved a half hour later to refill their spot.

and we have the 8:30 spot now open.
