I just love how EVERY time an Albertville person says something explaining themselves or just a post of their opinion in general, they always get thumbs down automatically. I'm with Noah on this one, this is just getting ridiculous
It's obvious that multiple people have made it their mission to put down anyone associated with Albertville and anything that they have to say. I have just stopped look at the thumbs up/down thing because it's stupid! It happens in every single thread in the Southern forum every single time! Whoever you people are, you all should really grow up and find something else to do. Your going around and clicking thumbs down on every Albertville person's post hasn't stopped us from posting and it won't! So you're wasting your time. LOL!
Of course I'm somewhat associated with Homewood, and would like to see them succeed, but that didn't drive my comments. It was never meant to be a Homewood gloating party, nor an Albertville bashing party, both of which I thought were clear. It sincerely just happens to be that I'm associated with them during their most successful time ever, for which I am grateful.
In fact, the primary reason for my postings had nothing to do with Homewood directly, but more that you felt that Albertville would take multiple captions and maybe even win the competition. That's a tough order against a group who hasn't been beaten for a caption or GC in The South in 10+ years, and another group who has already beaten "CenterStage!" twice and swept all major captions.
That's why I asked simply, "Dude...seriously?"
.
But that is where you come off as cocky, think about what you say, and as for Clinton never losing a caption or GC in 10+ years, that is innacurate. They lost captions in 2011, and in 2008, and beyond that they have had seasons where they had one or maybe even less wins, I dont plan to go and look up statistics. And as for me picking captions and Albertville winning Choreo over Homewood and Clinton both. Albertville traveled north and won choreo for the first time in a northern comp and that was the motivation behind it. And design was a toss up but I put thought into it, band was a toss up, cant ever tell who is and isnt eligible. Vocals, I knew clinton would win, they were amazing. But i put serious thought into my predictions and to be criticized the way i was, just well didnt make since, espcially after I backed up my predicitions

It's ironic that you're profile picture says "U MAD?" Remember how I was talking about poise, yeah well you're reply didn't have any. Anyways getting serious now, you clearly didn't read my post with an un-biased perspective. I never said asking for judges information was a bad thing, I just said it probably shouldn't be the very first thing after seeing results. It comes off as negative, regardless of if it was meant to be or not, because it infers that you don't trust the results, which as I pointed out, was made by much more qualified individuals. I never put any words in your mouth. I only quoted that thing you said, saying that in my opinion, it was rude. Nothing else in that post was directed at you, at all. They were my opinions and thoughts about this bickering.
And no, I don't think I'm the reason people are "leaving SCC". I think people being too sensitive about others' comments is the reason people are "leaving". Rub some dirt in it and move on. Like if I was an over-sensitive person, I would take your ignorant and exclusive "Why don't you stay out of the Southern forums" to heart, but since I'm not, I don't care. I can move on from that and understand that SCC is an inclusive website for everyone to enjoy regardless of opinion or geographic location.
I think my posts have been pretty respectful. As I've said, I just think the bickering is ridiculous and that congratulating groups and sharing experiences is what should be happening now. But until then, I'll continue to kill 'em with kindness.
It's quite hilarious how you keep contradicting yourself! First you say that you never said what I said was bad. But then you say it's rude. How is being rude not bad? And why is my asking who the judges were rude? Do you know my reasoning for asking who the judges were? I didn't think so! And I LOVE how you think you are so respectful and kind when you have been then complete opposite towards me!
Congratulations to Auburn "Varsity Singers"! I had the pleasure of speaking with a few of you last night, and just wanted to let the rest of you know how absolutely fantastic you were yesterday. I've seen you improve so much over the course of the year, and you definitely had your best performances of the season last night. I didn't see your finals performance, but I heard so many good things about it from quite a few people. Keep up the good work!
I keep hearing that it was a fantastic show! I wish I could have been there this weekend to see it! I loved Auburn's show this year and wish that I could have seen them more!!!
I made my predictions. I gave my fair and honest predictions and I backed them up very well. And you have absolutely no right to come after me like that. And I really don't enjoy people doing that to me, because of this you are getting me ryled and I don't like it. You had no right to do that.
My original comment about your predictions was basically intended as a "help me understand" kind of moment, and not a hard personal jab at you; I hate that you took it to heart as such.
My second post (the one full of your quotes) was in no way intended to be an attack on you or anyone else; it was simply a reply to all of the comments that you had made, about which I had an opinion.
That said, you can't expect to be involved in an internet forum, and give your personal opinions about other groups and not expect any kind of feedback.
And don't sit there and throw out facts that are inaccurate, or have no relevance to this.
I welcome you to point out what (serious) parts of my statements were specifically inaccurate, let alone irrelevant. Everything that I said was in response to either your or other posters' comments (quotes included), and based purely on recent contest history.
And about Albertville/Homewood this season, I ant get started on to this.

Side Note #1: I had a much different version of this post typed, but upon submission, I was sent back to the log-in page after taking too long to type it. Isn't that the worst?
Side Note #2: Though I'm bound to have some sort of side-spun, sensitive backlash from someone on this, I'm going to say it anyway:

edit: I goofed up one of the quote boxes. Was bound to happen, as many of them as I've been using.
Excuse me? How the hell do you even know what I was talking about? I never said anything negative about ANY group! I don't appreciate you insinuating that either! You don't know me, and unless you are a mind reader, you need to keep your mouth shut a DO NOT speak for me! And since when is asking who the judges were a crime? My bad for being curious! It's people like YOU who make Noah want to take a leave of absence from SCC. You say... "Oh yeah you can post your honest opinion. It's just you being hopeful and supporting your group." But then you go and attack people like me who didn't even say anything bad at all. You just assume things and then attack away. And you wonder why people don't wanna use SCC anymore! Why don't you stay out of the Southern forums and keep your assumptions to yourself! Because I don't appreciate you putting words in my mouth!

I think the bigger "issue" is poise. How people react to results truly helps others figure out that person's character. If a person's first initial post after reading results is: I'm just speechless...anyone know who the judges were?then that's honestly rude. It's not that they're being "biased" or "cocky"... it's just a flat out rude opinion. Congratulating other groups' performances and sharing what you appreciated from each show is much more classy and sportsmanlike than trying to figure out why the results are the way they are. Even if you disagree with results, that's fine, but know that the results were determined by a panel of much more qualified individuals than yourself. So perhaps questioning the judges is something that should happen at least a few hours/day after the results are posted.

I'm just going to quote this whole thing, and I'm going to state my point. I made my predictions. I gave my fair and honest predictions and I backed them up very well. This relates to my "have your cake and eat it to" post above, he has just as much right to respond to you in the forums as you have to predict Albertville beating Homewood and taking captions. It's a forum. That's what they're here for. If you "offend" people with your opinions (even unintentionally), you should mentally prepare yourself for the reaction. It's just part of the game.
And perhaps you should have initially started off with that second bolded part. (See my post above). Congratulating other groups' performances should be happening right now, not silly debates about opinions hurting others feelings. It's not dramatic, it's not cocky, it's not bias, it's just over-sensitization in my honest opinion.
edit: ps I have no problem with anything that has been said, I just think it's silly that there is bickering right now when people should be congratulating everyone who performed and sharing favorite shows, memories, experiences, interactions, etc.
Alright all my show choir buddies. All this " you're biased", "you're cocky", "You should or should not be able to post your honest predictions" stuff has gotten WAYYYYY out of hand. Southern fans have become too dramatic so I'm taking a leave of absence from SCC.Who ever said "you should not be able to post your honest prediction"? I'm personally not a southern person or really know much about southern show choir, but that's not the point. I don't care if Albertville affiliated members predict CenterStage! to top The Network or if Homewood affiliated members predict The Network to beat CenterStage! Who cares, they're simply just predictions that nine times out of ten are probably going to be wrong anyways.
I think a small (mostly insignificant) "issue" is personal bias. No offense to Albertville, but predicting placing higher than Homewood is great, ambitious, motivational, and all, but perhaps not the most realistic as this has been the third competition where Homewood has placed higher. I've truly enjoyed (from youtube) Albertville shows of the past and their unique approach. I know CenterStagers pride themselves on their uniqueness in the South, but I would be cautious not to let that pride affect Albertville's perceived sportsmanship (whether you're an alum, current student, or have a disclaimer in your tag- you're still affiliated).
I think the bigger "issue" is poise. How people react to results truly helps others figure out that person's character. If a person's first initial post after reading results is: I'm just speechless...anyone know who the judges were?then that's honestly rude. So in conclusion, I applaud those of you that are congratulating others and hope that those others that aren't following that route choose to in the future. It's sportsmanship. You can say all you want that this is a forum and a place for opinions, that's fine I agree with that, but don't get upset when others disagree with that opinion. It's a trade off. You can't "have your cake and eat it too" in this scenario.
Noah, most of this post has simply been my opinion, but I really want to respond to the bolded sentence where I quoted you at the top. I mean no disrespect when I say this but, that sentence is very oxymoronic. You're saying people are being dramatic (which I disagree with) which is a factor leading you to take a break from SCC... I think the "I'm taking a leave from SCC" is the most dramatic, soap opera-esque sentence so far in this Enterprise topic. It's like the pot calling the kettle black in my opinion. Maybe you were trying to be funny? If you were serious, well, all I can say is: you'll be back.
ps I think I tried pretty hard to be un-biased with the "Clinton vs. Homewood vs. Albertville" debate and tried to emphasize my points with bold, underlined, and italicized wording. Please read my words carefully or ask clarifying questions before burning me at the stake!
But your prediction said Albertville would win choreo...right?
But in my all honest predictions, these are off of what has happened this season.
So, based on what has happened to this point in the season, what exactly do you think points to Albertville not only beating Clinton and Homewood, but also beating Homewood AND Clinton out for multiple captions?
So far, Albertville and Homewood have competed against one other twice this season. The outcomes?
Homewood took two Grand Championships AND swept all captions at both contests.
Those results aren't my opinions. Those are facts.
Oh, and not to mention, Clinton vs. the world:
Clinton: 10,000
World: 0
I am not being biased, if I was, I would have Albertville in GC.
I never said you were being biased. In fact, your Albertville association had nothing to do with it. Anyone (from any school) making that post would've gotten the same response from me.
But as it stands, Clinton Deserves GC, and Albertville and Homewood will be Close 1ru, but I think Albertville pulls it out because they want it more.
Just as you seemed offended at my statement, I'm guessing this probably rubbed alot of people the wrong way.
How did you decide that your former choir "wants it more" than Homewood? or Auburn? or Opelika?
Every choir wants it, or they wouldn't be here. Period.
I'm just going to quote this whole thing, and I'm going to state my point. I made my predictions. I gave my fair and honest predictions and I backed them up very well. Congrats to all groups who competed yesterday! I know I had so much fun watching every group, and all five finalists absolutely brought their A+++++++ game! It has been a long time since I have seen that much competition. In my own personal opinion, I think the results could have been switched around in any order, and TO ME, would have made perfect sense. All five finalists blew the stage away, melted some faces, and from where I was sitting, had as much fun as possible up on that stage. Isn't that the main reason we all became involved in show choir?
A wise show choir sage(ess) once told me "Trophies are made out of metal, and metal rusts, deteriorates, and eventually falls apart. But you know what doesn't do that? Memories and friendships."
I hope everyone had as much fun at this competition as I did, I wish any groups that have competitions left in the season the best of luck, and I hope everyone had a safe drive back home like I did!
Alright all my show choir buddies. All this " you're biased", "you're cocky", "You should or should not be able to post your honest predictions" stuff has gotten WAYYYYY out of hand. Southern fans have become too dramatic so I'm taking a leave of absence from SCC. Congrats to EVERYONE who participated!!!!! Every group was phenomenal in Finals! (Except for mine cause I know people will freak out if I show any pride in my own group). Enterprise ran a GREAT competition!!!! Peace out.
I rarely post anymore, but after reading this particular thread, I have to say that some people on here need to really think about what they are posting before they post it. Regardless of if you have a disclaimer at the bottom of your page or not, people associate you with the school you are representing. If you come on this page and show obvious favoritism towards your group or have negative comments towards another group, it comes across in a really poor fashion. If you don't think that judges read or hear about what each school's members post on here, you are very naive. How people see you perform off the stage has a definite impact on how they perceive your performance on the stage. All of the conspiracy theories about certain judges not liking certain groups is all but void now with the ranking systems being used in nearly all competitions. That means that there wasn't just one judge who thought you deserved your placing, but multiple. You pay your money and take your chances. If you don't like that then I would suggest asking your directors to consider not competing. Congratulations to all the groups on their placings and good luck with the rest of the season.
