Yeah, I guess you're right. I was thinking the same thing when I heard WV placed third. However I blame whoever manages Attache's website for the error, because I simply copy and pasted (as you can see from the link I included) the majority of that paragraph.
haha I know, I read the article too, just making a statement!
Waubonsie had 12 straight grand champions, but that ended last night to La Crosse and Franklin Central.

I'm not sure if this has been posted yet or if anyone even cares, but here are some scores from finals (out of 600 total):
Clinton (597)
Homewood (573)
Auburn (549)
Albertville (534)
All three judges had Clinton in first place. It's also Attache's 9th straight grand championship, which is apparently the longest in the nation, which I think will probably be ended at Los Al. Surprisingly, it's also apparently a rebuilding year for Attache with only seven seniors, who knew?
Don't start a new fight, this is already ridiculous. But if we must Albertville beat Clinton in Prelims and was ahead in points I believe in finals? I'm not entirely sure on that aspect. But Once again, They have not won every caption in 10+ years. This same argument can some what be made about Opelika from this year
I legitimately don't understand this. I'm not trying to "start a new fight", let alone be a part of a different one. And you're right, this is absolutely getting ridiculous.
And what do you mean about "Opelika from this year"? I'm not sure I get that..
Though it continues to be completely irrelevant to the 2012 Enterprise contest page, I'll say it anyway:
I'm not arguing that Albertville didn't outscore Clinton in prelims at Petal in 2008; I'm well aware of how it went down. In fact, if you were to look back at the archives to that contest and read the posts, you'd see that I am the one who posted the preliminary rankings and points spread for large mixed that night.
Click here for a link to that very post, just for kicks.
However, in my opinion, scoring highest in prelims is like having the lead in a race with two laps to go. Sure, it's wonderful that you're in that position and that you are vying for the win, but it's not over yet. The race (or in this case, competition) has to be finished, and that's the whole point of Finals. The Fat Lady is just now warming up.
That night in Finals, Attaché not only won Grand Champions (via the consensus ranking system that couldn't be much more fair, as Peyton expressed), but also came back to win all three of the major caption awards (tied for Overall Effect with Albertville). By all definitions in my book, that means Clinton won, not Albertville.
Though, I guess if you're into the whole "moral victory" thing, then sure, Albertville had a good prelim run and outscored Attaché in prelims, by 12 out of 800 possible points.
Something I hadn't thought to mention before: all of this only really applies to the Finalist groups. Scoring that takes place in prelims still applies to all non-finalist groups, as that was their final placement of the day. Finalist groups scores are basically wiped clean and restored/ranked, the way I see it.
======================
Want to hear a funny story?
I thought you might.
Another competition with a similar result: Picayune, 2005. Top two groups of the day were South Jones (where I was a performer), and.......wait for it.......Albertville. Except this time, Albertville's role was reversed.
After prelims, SJ led preliminary scoring and had all three major captions. But in finals, Albertville won Grand Champion and all three major captions.
I did not then, nor do I now, feel any differently about that situation than the results of Petal, 2008.
Albertville won that competition, my group (South Jones) did not. It sucked, and it was not fun, but that's just how it was.
Does that make sense? Or did I just inadvertently make things even worse?
It's quite hilarious how you keep contradicting yourself! First you say that you never said what I said was bad. But then you say it's rude. How is being rude not bad? And why is my asking who the judges were rude? Do you know my reasoning for asking who the judges were? I didn't think so! And I LOVE how you think you are so respectful and kind when you have been then complete opposite towards me!
I truly don't believe I'm contradicting myself, I just think that you aren't understanding what I'm saying. True, I made assumptions based off of your post, but I stand by what I said. And it's not like I'm the only one making assumptions, you guys do it too...it's part of life. Assumptions are assumptions and it's human nature. Anyways, an initial post of "Wow I'm speechless ....... who were the judges" still sounds negative. Even though you're saying "Do you know my reasoning?" No, I don't, but I can make an educated guess. Whether you'll admit it or not, I think you initially disagreed with the results. and that's fine. you're allowed to do that. But be a little more respectful about it next time? This is how I, and probably many others, interpreted your sentence: Punctuation tells a lot about a person. "Wow I'm speechless!!" means something different than "Wow i'm speechless..." also the "....." that connected the "Wow I'm speechless" and "Who were the judges" shows that you related those two phrases thus it appears you were speechless because of the judge's results indicating that you disagreed. And like I said that's fine. But I wholeheartedly believe that directly after results are posted that there should be nothing but positive energy and that's not what I got from your post. Now, I know you're probably going to respond saying my "interpretation" of your post was wrong, and that's fine, but it's all written in the punctuation. If you don't want people making assumptions and calling you out, then don't let the opportunity occur so use more precise punctuation. (And no I'm not trying to be the grammar police, but it's silly how if I'm misinterpreting your sentence, then this could all have been avoided with the use of "!" or something. ) So if I'm wrong in interpreting your sentence, please clear it up for me, because I feel as if your writing is saying one thing yet I feel you're disagreeing?
Now, I believe I've properly outlined my opinions on why I initially posted on this topic. I still believe that I've been respectful throughout my posts. Have you ever heard of "I" statements and "you" statements?? "I" statements are positive because it's where the person says "I think...." or "I feel...". The person is explaining how they see something or feel. "You" statements are typically attacking such as "you are ...." or "you make me mad". "You" statements are other people telling someone how they feel or think. Now please review my post and your post. I see a lot of "I" statements in my writing but I see a lot of "you" statements in yours which I so kindly underlined for you. I think I've been kind and respectful and haven't attacked you, so perhaps now you'll maybe understand that I'm being kinder than you think, because I don't appreciate being told how I feel or how I think from someone that doesn't know me. So I encourage you to use "I" statements in the future.

I know there has also been a lot of recent posts about thumbs up/thumbs down. I feel like everyone gets so bent out of shape about thumbs up/thumbs down. I personally don't use them, because it's such a simple feature that users abuse with complexity. If I were you or anyone else who has mentioned it, I wouldn't take it personally for the thumbs up/thumbs down. They're random people and that's that. I believe that if I disagree with something, then I'll reply and quote that post. Which I did. I'm honestly kind of surprised my posts aren't being as thumbs down as I expected for being a Southern forum, but then again it doesn't tick me off or excite me in the slightest either way. And just to clarify, because I did earlier yet it might have gotten lost in the heat of the moment, I'm not an Albertville-hater. I'm don't think it's my mission to "thumbs down" every Albertville post (see my reasoning above about the up/down feature). I actually find Albertville quite respectable considering that AHS travels to the Midwest seemingly every year which I think is great. Every choir should try to get out of their region at least once a year. I've also enjoyed the Albertville shows in the past few years, especially the "Faces" show and I'm eager to see this years show at the end of the season when it's posted. So just clarifying.
Also I'm not really sure why there is a conversation about Albertville vs. Clinton when the competition in question happened a few years ago. I don't see Clinton folks dwelling on the situation, so I don't understand why others are. Results are results and judges are judges. They're qualified and as I've said, I trust them more than I trust the SCC. Then again, this debate has nothing to do with me so I'm not getting involved in it. And....now I feel like I've typed a short novel...so I'll stop. haha
I already mentioned this. But it doesn't matter to Cody that we beat Clinton by 13 points. Apparently if they were ranked as GC then they didn't get beaten. Which is exactly why I said his facts were wrong. If you lose by points, you lose. Period. End of story. Doesn't matter where you get ranked. That's why the ranking system is completely idiotic!
So if four judges have group a in first and one judge has group b so far ahead of everyone else that they win by points, this is fair? To me, group a is the obvious winner because they were the best to 80% of the judges, while group b was only the best to 20% of the judges. I don't see how rankings are dumb when they in fact make competitions a lot more fair.
Don't start a new fight, this is already ridiculous. But if we must Albertville beat Clinton in Prelims and was ahead in points I believe in finals? I'm not entirely sure on that aspect. I was 99% sure that Clinton "Attaché" had been named Grand Champions of every major Southern Show Choir competition held since 2002. When and where was this not the case?
edit: iPhone grammar...

Nearly every person on here is from Albertville so a large number of the thumbs up and the thumbs down are on the posts from Albertville people. There is really no reason to think that people are out to get Albertville. Y'all have set a standard for being one of the most unique and talented groups in the southeast. However, as a group that does something very different, you have got to be prepared to not be appreciated by individuals and judges that are not used to seeing your type of show on a regular basis. I have been around show choir for way too long. During that time, I have seen some good performance that didn't score well and some bad ones that did score well. At some point, you have to stop looking at judges sheets and saying that someone is out to get you and just do your thing. I have always thought that the only reason you post an "opinion" where you make crazy predictions or down another group is to show confidence going into a competition. I personally don't believe you have to prove confidence to anyone anymore as y'all show it with every performance you put on stage, but if you feel the need to, know that there are some people out there that won't like it and will call you out on it as a way to show their confidence and superiority. I am not one of those people, but I do want you guys to understand that if you put your opinions out there then other people are going to do the same. Again, I want to congratulate y'all on continuing to do your thing every year. Good luck with the rest of the season.
I don't mean to be the one to say anything terrible, but there are people who dislike post of Albertville for some reason, go look at post that have absolutely no relevance to this or other south forums, for example, I agreed to someone that Clinton should win costumes, and got negative post just for one sentence. I don't believe anyone is out to get Albertville or bring us down, but There are people who purposely dislike some post without even thinking about it, and that is shown throughout the southern forums. I'm not trying to stir anything up, but I ask you to take a closer look and see if you can catch what I mean

But your prediction said Albertville would win choreo...right?
But in my all honest predictions, these are off of what has happened this season.
So, based on what has happened to this point in the season, what exactly do you think points to Albertville not only beating Clinton and Homewood, but also beating Homewood AND Clinton out for multiple captions?
So far, Albertville and Homewood have competed against one other twice this season. The outcomes?
Homewood took two Grand Championships AND swept all captions at both contests.
Those results aren't my opinions. Those are facts.
Oh, and not to mention, Clinton vs. the world:
Clinton: 10,000
World: 0
I am not being biased, if I was, I would have Albertville in GC.
I never said you were being biased. In fact, your Albertville association had nothing to do with it. Anyone (from any school) making that post would've gotten the same response from me.
But as it stands, Clinton Deserves GC, and Albertville and Homewood will be Close 1ru, but I think Albertville pulls it out because they want it more.
Just as you seemed offended at my statement, I'm guessing this probably rubbed alot of people the wrong way.
How did you decide that your former choir "wants it more" than Homewood? or Auburn? or Opelika?
Every choir wants it, or they wouldn't be here. Period.
