Really enjoying the live feed! How do finals work at this competition? Is it strictly the top six scores or does the winner of Single-Gender automatically get into finals ?

If I'm correct, unless it has changed this year, I do believe it is strictly top 6 scores. I may be wrong on this but it seems as if past years there have been 6 mixed groups, mostly large, with the exception of a couple small mixed.

They did sound great, in person they were fantastic!

That said, I gotta wonder if there is any concern with how their show will work in competition, and away from their home venue. Several performers were wearing personal mics (drama mics maybe? Not sure). I saw at least six, maybe more. Dunno if all competitions allow that, as it certainly would seem to be an unfair vocal advantage.

I don't mean this as a slight to Albertville. Their show and performers were fantastic, and will no doubt give The South some great competition this season. I have no doubt the show can be done without the personal mics, it just may affect the overall presentation of the show.

We only use those headmic's for solo purposes. The mics are only on during the second number with only a few people on stage, "Meadows of Heaven", they are never on unless someone has a solo. Just clarifying this because we knew it would come up at some point. The only competition that I know of having rules against this is Petal and the rule is, Groups may use headmic's only with a solo.

Thanks, Cody, for typing that all out! I missed it on the live feed so I appreciate it! It's posted above now!

I expected to see Oak Mountain instead of Bradley Central, guess their acapella wasn't enough to put them in. Probably a pretty close competition. Best of luck to everyone in Finals!

I somewhat get what you're saying. But only speaking to the show concept piece, I wouldn't characterize Clinton as consistently having "darker show concepts." Sure their 2011 and 2013 shows had a lot of that in it, but 2009, 2010, 2012 weren't really all that dark. So 2 in 5 years? I think that's a common misconception with Clinton and that it overshadows the other shows that they've done recently.

Wheaton was ok. But i was not impressed. I have seen them perform better.
I really enjoyed homewood. good job guys.
I think I would agree. I wouldn't be surprised if Homewood comes out on top in prelims, but it's definitely a whole different ball game in finals. And Wheaton's show concept this year proves that. Should be interesting - I'll be curious to hear if you're impressed after Wheaton's finals performance.

Their vocals, even through the live stream, were boss. I can't even imagine being there in person. Pretty amazing. The multitude of special effects, though, were overwhelming and not necessarily in a good way. I think there's a fine balance between being dependent upon special effects and using them to enhance the show. Hmm.

Is there any need for me to post prelims awards and finalists? I know lots of folks are watching the live stream. Not gonna type it all out for no reason, but am happy to if it's needed.
Cody, I would greatly appreciate it if you would post Prelim Awards. I just got off work and wasn't able to watch the Live feed today. Also, are they streaming finals?

I usually have to let "CenterStage!" shows sink in. So I'm not sure how I feel about it yet in terms of if I like it or not.

Their vocals, even through the live stream, were boss. I can't even imagine being there in person. Pretty amazing. The multitude of special effects, though, were overwhelming and not necessarily in a good way. I think there's a fine balance between being dependent upon special effects and using them to enhance the show. Hmm.

I do disagree, though, that there should be two different types of competitions. As Patrick said, the visual aspect of a show can be delivered in a lot of ways and it's up to the judges to determine what is appropriate, impressive, outstanding, and what isn't. It's all about personal taste I think.
