It's interesting to see how many times a group performs through the year... some on this list have competed only once this season while others have competed as many as eight times. That's something the "ranking" sites don't take into consideration but absolutely should - it's obviously easier to have a "perfect" season when only competing once or twice than it is to win eight times in a row. Also, I'll just point out that Los Al is competing this weekend at the SoCal competition (which SCC will be streaming live!), so they will have another award on their list before FAME.
I intend to reply to this remark, if I can ever get it posted.
I thought I'd point out that this competition has 13 different states participating: Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, California, Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Oklahoma, New York, Mississippi, Massachusetts, and Arizona.
Anyone wanna list the competition record for the competing schools? Could you possibly do this for the Single-Gender division as well!?
Now that the event has been updated above with mixed and women's participants, you can simply click on the choir and it will take you to to 2013 profile page with their performance record. I think that's far easier than listing it all out, but if someone wants to do that, well, that's cool too. To each their own.
I just think looking at the choir's profile pages and seeing the competitions just gives you more information than listing the placements. Not that anything was wrong with Häakon's list, but it doesn't tell the story of the depth of the competitions in which those placements were earned. And Häakon sort of eluded to that in the conversation about "rankings." For example, Jackson Prep earned second place finishes at Jackson Academy and Madison Central, but those competitions lacked depth; whereas Carroll has a fourth place finish at ISSMA, but that was against the likes of North Central, Franklin Central, and other Indiana powerhouses. So in terms of best understanding a choir's performance, it would probably be most beneficial to examine the competitions they attended instead of simply their placements. Not all competitions are created equal.
*In addition when looking at Women's performance records, there are various "No Placement"s listed (ex. Center Grove "Debtones" 2013); however, that's a bug with the site due to "Womens Finals" results not showing up properly. So again, dig deeper and look at the competition pages until that is fixed.
Thanks! And well said! I think this competition is stacked and will answer a lot of questions, and I also think there are a few groups sitting outside everyone's top 6 predictions that could sneak in! It'll be interesting to see what happens with so many great groups attending.
I'll do it later when i have time.

I 100% feel that Fairfield has the best show and could win, but I think their time slot definitely hurts them a lot in that chance. I'd love to see them push through it and win but I think that it will go something like this:
GC: Burroughs (BV)
1RU: Los Al
2RU: Fairfield (BB, BC)
3RU: Ankeny
4RU: Center Grove
5RU: Mt. Zion
Could go to anyone, really. Such an amazing competition.
ipad?? O.o
Yeah, judges will be using iPads! According to the press release on the FAME website,
This panel will utilize the technology provided by “Ejudicator” (ejudicator.com) which is a web based adjudication system that provides accurate and instantaneous results. This system will allow the judges to evaluate all twenty eight National Finalists fairly with virtually no possibility of human error.
When there are this many choirs in a division having a finals would really help the judges.
I certainly hope they aren't having the same panel for women's as well as mixed (i.e. for 16 and a half hours).
