Less than 12 hours away... Been slaving away all day in preparation. Looking forward very much to hosting the Carmel Ambassadors. I'm ready to see them debut their show! Should be a great, competitive day. If you see me in a navy blazer and red vest, feel free to say hi. I always view Crystal as a great way to meet new people in he show choir world. CAN'T WAIT.
Lights and Sound going up in the arena tonight. The process that transforms the gym into one of the best Show Choir performance spaces in the Midwest has begun.
I've judged this competition the past couple years (my daughter is IN it with Carmel Accents this year, so I'll just be a "screaming papa"). It's one of the best run, most exciting, audience friendly, high energy competitions I've ever been to. Beautifully organized, big sound system, always a good panel of judges, and friendly people. If you haven't been before and are coming on Saturday, you'll have a great experience! God Bless, Damon Brown
Also, from a college student's perspective, I have no idea why I'm the first person to be saying this, but WHY is no one else freaking out about Skyline Chili being there Saturday like I am? I'm not even from Cincinnati and I love Skyline (especially compared to Gold Star...I've had that too).
Right!? I'm glad people that don't live in Cincinnati enjoy Skyline as much as I do
BB will go to either Carmel or Marysville. It seems like the consensus (and I agree) is that outside of the top 2 this one is going to be really tough to call. All the groups competing for finals have had great years. It will be very interesting to see how the results shake out. Of course I'll be pulling for my alma mater though
Man I agree but I will say that Carmel will win this one pretty substantially considering I would probably have them in discussion for being a top 10 choir nationally. But honestly I have no idea where 2-6 will possibly land. I think Marysville definitely wont drop below 4th but there are just too many wild cards like Huntington North and Oak Grove and I believe a lot of these choirs are pretty close to each other. I think this wont be a 2010 classic but it will definitely be a very entertaining one like always.

Coming from an ETC current member, we are more excited to perform one last time together as a group! This year has been one tough year for all of us, and Fairfield is the final destination we all have been striving for. Most importantly we are so elated that our girl, Abbey, is healthy enough to share the stage with us one last time before we end our competition season! So no matter the placement, we are just happy to share our show, TEAM ABBEY, with everyone and show the journey that we have traveled to even make it this far!
"So no matter the placement, we are just happy to share our show" :') Perfect. That is what show choir really is about.

I hate predictions like I hate shootouts in hockey. So to be blunt, we'll just see who takes what on Saturday, and live with the results, praying that the judges judge as objectively and fairly as they can.
Predictions are what they are... predictions. I personally like them, because it generates some discussion prior to the competition and (sometimes) people explain their reasoning which is usually interesting. In general, I wouldn't take any predictions too personally. After all, students are the ones making predictions. There's a reason we have professional judges instead of a student panel.
And speaking of judges, I wouldn't at all worry about the judges at this competition. The Fairfield Crystal Classic always has a quality line up of judges and, in general, judges do an excellent job of being as objective as possible since they are experienced and professionals. But you also have to recognize that show choir is a subjective art and some styles are appreciated more than others, so naturally there will always be disagreements.

Chick-Fil-A at a show choir competition!? Ha! But I do approve of LaRoasas!
Good point. But unlike some I have been to, Chick fil-A at Crystal will have 4 flavors of shakes, ice cream cones, both spicy and regular sandwiches and nuggets, and both spicy and regular biscuit sammies in the morning.
Got to LOVE Chick fil-A!!! The location we work with has been nothing short of FANTASTIC!
