Finals Prediction in no order:

Marysville
Carmel
Dekalb
ETC
Loveland
Edgewood

I have never seen Oak Grove so they could be in there as well. As for who I think will win. I have NO idea. It depends what the judges want for one thing. I have heard nothing about Carmel this year either. I will guess and put an order to it now and say:

GC: Marysville / Carmel
1ru: Marysville / Carmel
2ru: Loveland
3ru: Dekalb
4ru: ETC
5ru: Edgewood

BV: Carmel
BC: Marysville
BB: no idea

If I'm close to right, I deserve a cookie. Although we all know it can get crazy with judging. We'll know eventually

Good point jdL. I love crystal classic, it's one of the best every year. Hopefully I'll get to attend this year!

i dont know about ETC. They didn't even make finals at Southmont.

That was back in November. They have a whole new show. It's completely different. They won at Central Crossing.

Even though I am partial to Varsity Singers because I'm an alumni, I wouldn't already count them out of finals. I'm excited to see how they do this year because they lost a lot of seniors. However, I have seen them this year and I know good things are possible

Its also possible that Olentangy Orange is the group competing in small division like last year, and that Keynotes are still in large division. Considering two years ago they competed in large division and made finals and now they have more people than 2 years ago.

Keynotes are competing in small division? Odd. Just another example of why divisions shouldn't be based on student population size IMO.

You're right. Ohio competitions often times are really strange in that they base the competitive classes on the size of the school which is absolutely no indication of a show choir's ability.

However in regard to the Crystal Classic, I believe that the directors choose the class size, not the contest director. I'm just basing this assumption off of the sign-up form where it appears that the director can select either Large Mixed or Small Mixed. So if the Keynotes are competing in the Small Mixed division, I would assume that it was their choice to do so. Although we all know they are good enough to compete with the show choirs that will be in the Large Mixed.

Another reason I'm not sure the Crystal Classic bases the divisions off of enrollment, is because when you look at last years competition, Central Crossing is in the Small Mixed division, yet their enrollment is similar to Marysville which competes in the Large Mixed.

So I'm not sure, just my thoughts. We'll know more once the schedule/divisions are released.

I heard that they are having a Small Mixed Finals separate to large. Which is what Olentangy is competing in.

My finals predictions:
Marysville
Huntington North
Oak Grove
Loveland
DeKalb
Carmel

Attending groups that I have seen already this season are Marysville, Loveland, and both Olentangy groups. I'll also see the swingers again this week. And I've seen most other groups multiple times in the past. "Music Warehouse" or "Keynotes" could also take a finals spot, but I stand with my prediction. Because of the newer finals procedure at crystal classic, Norwell can't make finals in the arena, otherwise I'd consider them. They surprised everyone by making it in 2007 and they may be just as good this year, but I haven't seen thm in awhile.

For us real oldtimers, it's deja-vu and a little thrill to see Carmel, Edgewood, Norwell and Huntington North all at the same contest once again. These four and one or two others laid the foundation for what show choir is today.
