No need to say something like that. I know who u are talking about and I also take offense to that because I support those changes. If you have a problem take it up with her or I.

I HAVE AN IDEA.  HOW ABOUT WE FLIPPIN DROP THE WHOLE THING ABOUT THE JUDGING.  WE ARE THERE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND BE WITH OTHER KIDS THAT SHARE OUR PASSION.  WE AREN'T THERE TO, pardon my languauge, b***h AND MOAN ABOUT OUR SCORES.  WE ARE SUPPOSED TO GET BETTER EACH TIME AND TRY TO IMPROVE OFF OF OUR LAST PERFORMANCE.  THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT DID COME TO OUR INVITATIONAL AND THAT HAD A GREAT TIME.  BTW ABOUT OUR OTHER TWO JUDGES,  I THINK YOU NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THEIR CREDENTIALS, ESPECIALLY JEFF VALLIER,  IF YOU HAVE YOU THEN SEE HE IS THE DIRECTOR OF ONE OF THE BEST POWERHOUSES AROUND, LAFF JEFF.

The controversy in this competition only comes from the fact that nobody will let it drop.  And if you look at the people still talking it seems to me that the people keeping it going are the people from ETC and bishop Luers Not even the second or third place groups.  And by the way you didn't win because of vocals you ended up winning merely after the combo score was added.  Not to take away from your performance as I heard it was very good, but lights and heat have no reason to be jealous as they did everything they could possibly do and ended up losing becuase of something they cant control.

For the record, I have NOT been the person to keep this going. And Columbia City people aren't allowed to post on here. I've been more than ready to drop it for quite a while.

Opinions are opinions, folks. Let's remember that.

Anytime ETC wins, there is always some sort of controversey. How come? Maybe if you look beyond this "controversey," you will see why we won. Our biggest booster was the 10 points we gained vocally from a judge...he tore us up, we fixed what he said for the finals, and he liked it.

One thing I hate about high school competitions is I think there is always a little bit of jealousy. These are competitions and you cannot win everytime. I think ETC members understand that. I am not saying you others do not, but there is always some sort of "controversey" if you don't win.

There would be no way ETC would have won if Twinsburg would have been there...but I think we fairly won this competition.

It was close, and I think everyone did I wonderful job.

The males that I did hear sounded great, I just didn't hear enough of them. I could only hear one male part on the ballad, it was probably just a balance issue. I remember my freshman year when we had twice as many girls as guys. It was tough, especially creating a tenor bass balance when we were being overpowered by the girls. I'm pretty sure we lost a lot of points for that. But, then again, things have changed A LOT in three years, it's amazing. I think you'd hear the parts better if you didn't turn to each other in the ballad, but maybe that's just a preference thing, too. I think it'd at least be worth a try.

The first two "top choirs" that I ever saw were Findlay and Fairfield. I think Hollywood runined Phantom (from a musical standpoint, not a cinematic one). It's all about influences. Some of you grew up on show choir. I grew up on children's choir. Just to give everyone else an idea of where I'm coming from.

I was really too harsh on ETC. I should have mentioned that their choreographic execution was very good. They deserved all the points they got in that area. The vocals were actually rather good, I just have high standards. It's hard to compare on just a competition level, not to all the groups you've seen. I suppose I compare everyone to my standard (you guessed, Findlay), and that's not really fair. No one would come to a show choir competition and compare any choir to a jazz choir (who are usually much better vocally). My apologies for anyone's feelings I have hurt (although this doesn't seem to be anyone in ETC...). (Note: an apology from Royce is a very rare thing).

I honestly had no clue Antwon was in ETC. I was referring to the other two judges. There's more I'd like to say, but I don't want to sound whinny. If anyone's dying to know, they're free to PM or IM me.

As one very intellegent person said in another forum, we could have a bunch of plumbers come in and judge. They would be unbiased. Or, maybe not.

Ummmmm, yeah.

Antwon,

I would like to know what unsupported claims your talking about.

Royce chill dude, I will agree with you that we aren't the best group vocally, thats been our problem for the last like 4 years. And i really wasn't surprised that you didn't like our show, when you posted in that one forum saying you were a "purist" i knew you wouldn't think much of our show. Our show is more modernish like you said u didn't really like, our vocals aren't like amazing, and Weaver's choreography is not old school type so i figured you probably wouldn't like us at all. But your claims about the choreographer thing was kinda unsupported. Earlier in this year at Central Crossing where we got 2nd behind Teays there were no choreographers on the judging panel, just musical directors and they gave us all high scores in choreography, combo, show, and we got pretty good but not amazing scores in vocals.... which is basically what was the situation at lakeview. So having two choreographers on the panel really didn't do much, cause we have gone to a competition where there were no choreographers as judges and still scored well. Also our ballad was actually 4 and 5 parts for most of it, and the judges said we had one of the better guy sounds of the day... so yea..from that standpoint your claims were unsupported. I do respect your opinion though, it's your opinion, i can't change it and it does help us so we know what to work on for our next competition so thanks for your honesty.

Hey Haley yea you did see me at the competition, i was the guy who helped main street out with the other haley from my group I was sad i really didn't get to see any groups except City Lights though, i really wanted to see City Heat and Bishup Luers... but at least i got a tape even though it isn't the same as live.

For videos you can contact Michael Cypheres at [email protected] and they probably will have an order form or something for the competition.

Thanks again lakeview for a great comp and good luck to everyone for the rest of the season

Hersel,

And for once, we actually agree.  I saw ETC at night, and I wasn't really impressed, especially from a vocal standpoint.  The male-female balance was poor (and I know the numbers situation, but you can still make up for that), the tone didn't really impress me, and the ballad was in three part, or at least that's all I heard.  The Weaver choreography was nothing special, as usual.  I really have to wonder what would have happened if two of the three judges had not been affiliated with Weaver, and if two of the three judges had not been choreographers.

OK I dont ever post on here...but I just want to clear up something before its blown out of context.

To clear up a lot yes I am a former member of ETC....that happens when you are in a group and you develop a love for show choir. It had to start somewhere. I loved City Heat and City Lights. I actually had City Lights in FIRST after prelims. There vocals were/are AMAZING not only for a female group but any group period. As for me being a choreographer that hardly has anything to do with ETC winning....I had them in 3RD in Vocals both prelims and night show behind Lights and Heat. I would just like to say the individual above from Luers. Posting this type of UNSUPPORTED claims...does nothing but make your group look very bad. I assure you there are more than just students on this board, and believe it or not the way you act/say on this site...directly reflects upon your group.

To CC Lights & Heat congrats on a wonderful showing.....you both should be very proud of the show you put on Saturday at Lakeview. I see nothing but more GC in your future.

Have a wonderful season everyone,

Antwon L. Chavis
