Does that include alumni, cause when ya met me I was an alumni. WAAAAAY back at BD in 2005. man im old. I remember that. Starting to regret missing this one, and bummer I won't get to see both ankeny and urby at the same time, can't afford the trip to FLA.
Also the Dean's Happy Place, that's awesome
<<<<<me making my mad face for missing urby.
Sorry. I've only seen it written and never pronounced. I'll get it right from now on. You should feel honored though...you're one of only two people in VA whose name and face I actually know. (Just kidding on the honored part.)
Oh...and Neekola is right...we have amazing parent volunteers at Urbandale. They work their behinds off putting this competition on so that I can just wander around and enjoy the day until we perform our exhibition shows.

i think that the competition was really fun this weekend, and everybody did an awesome job!
johnston innovation: you guys ROCk this year, i'm so proud of my school!! to finally "conform" to the modern show choir world and actually be pretty good at it is something to be proud of; i'm predicting a really successful year for inno this year.
ankeny visual adrenaline: oh my gosh, the vocals are amazing. i would love to know how much you guys work on vocals; phrasing, dynamics, diction, everything. your performances really show the dedication of your choir. the costumes are awesome, i'm loving the pink shoes! just wondering, who picked out the color combo of pink and purple?
city high 4th avenue jazz company: ohhh i love you guys and have since i was in high school! your shows are always so classic and fun; i especially love the novelty number you guys do this year. its so hilarious, i was laughing so hard. congrats to taking home the best soloist awards, way to rep iowa city (i go to iowa!!)
i hope to see more groups this later this year; i'll be going to CR kennedy as well as emmetsburg. good luck to everybody for the rest of the season!
Our Directors wife picked them out. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> She's amazing when it comes to colors and matching.
Yet another amazing competition put on by Urbandale. This was as always smoothly run from start to finish.
I’d like to say thank you to our two hostesses who were AMAZING. Let’s just say that “Deans Happy Place” was P-E-R-F-E-C-T! We really loved how much time and effort you two put into it. We especially loved our VIP tags.
I’d just like to say that SE POLK you have an amazing show, and amazing ballad soloists.
Vitality- W.O.W – What they say is true, prep groups are becoming the new Varsity. You were awesome.
The FOOD – was…AMAZING. .
Overall this competition so far has to be my favorite. Thank you to everyone (especially the really nice parents) who put on this competition.
Mr. Temple…my name is pronounced Niiikola…lol. Like Ricola but with an N. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> don’t worry I’ve had to correct the President of the United States on the right way of saying my name. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

5 - I'm especially proud of the Innovation band, who did play just great and really deserved that best band award (I believe they're the only ones to take that away from Ankeny this season so far - so that's really saying something!)
Ankeny's band also lost to Omaha Westside at the UNL Midwest Cup (although I could've seen that award going many ways...)
I'm finally 'home' home (in Chicago) and finally able to reflect on the whole day. Some interesting things to point out:
1 - What a great day! A nice tribute to Jody and Wendy's last Jamboree as well...
2 - This makes 17 consecutive finals appearances for Johnston, and 19/20 years that I know of for sure.
3 - Ankeny is out of this world. Some folks like to call them "The Clinton of the Midwest" - and though Clinton is the longer more established choir, I'd like to change that saying to "Clinton is the ANKENY of the South"... strangely their prelims show had some rough edges, but in finals was by far the best show choir performance I've seen in years...
4 - I totally love Urbandale's arrangements. At first glance I was sort of 'groan - do I have to listen to that again?' - but the cool vocal writing (and interesting stuff in the band) completely changed my mind. I'm not a huge fan of Christina who'slastnameIcan'tspell, but dang if they didn't nearly lift that song to 'art' status!

6 - Great job everyone! I can't wait for next week (and I'm sure I'll kill myself and get to CR Kennedy - it will hurt the next morning, but it will be worth it!)
ok so ankeny.... i was in the balcony bleachers and have to ask the question.. is it sheer coincidence that in your closer you clump up to the middle and the contrast of colors make the letter A.......Then you spread out and it a more spread out A.... Genious! if not...... still GENIOUS!
thats it. great comp!
No way! ...shut up....
I'll have to look at that. Thats April for ya...Clever as ever!

I want to congratulate all the groups on their performances at the Urbandale Show Choir Invitational. Thank you for making our event such a huge success. To the directors of each of the choirs I want to thank you for your time and dedication to your community and your students. I hope you enjoyed the Invitational as much as I did.
Thank you Jeff Temple and Jennifer Morris for all you help to make Urbandale a great place to work.
Thanks again and come back next year for the 25th Urbandale Show Choir Invitational on February 8 and 9, 2008.
