OMG WOOOOOHOOO!!!!!! The competition was spectacular. Congrats Fairfield on a well deserved win! GO GC! But anyway, yea we were seventh missing the finals by HALF A FREAKIN POINT!!!!!!!!! but oh well, we tried our best. I can't wait to go to Garfield Hieghts next weekend! It will be great fun! Is there anyone else going? Either to perform or just watch?
Yesterday was so much fun! I want to especially thank Wheaton for being such a wonderful group to host! You guys have your hearts in that show. It was AMAZING!!!I'm still humming the songs. I didn't get to see many groups yesterday, but hopefully I'll get the chance to see you throughout the season. Best of luck to everyone! See some of you in two weeks

I did not get to see Wheaton’s show, I wish I could of! I heard that it was good from a lot of people!
Northrop opened with the same song that Crete Monee Cavs used as their second number last year (possibly titled "Come and Dance" or "Let's Dance" (?)) and "Ballroom Blitz" was near the end of their show.
Wheaton-Warrenville was one of the biggest surprises of the competition as they performed a very clean, energetic show and absolutely sang their hearts out. Their opener was probably titled "Dreamer" or "I Am A Dreamer" - i think it was the same song that Linda McEachran's group used as their ballad at SCA this summer. Their guys/girls feature was "Dance to the Music/Music" by Sly & The Family Stone and Madonna, and their closer was a swing medley of "This Cat's on a Hot Tin Roof" and something else.
The opener was titled Dreamer. I was in Lindas group at SCA over the summer and it was our ballad.

seeing as the "Swingers" have now performed for non-Marysville community members, i'm comfortable answering this question.
Opener - "The Journey Home/Journey to the Past" from Bombay Dreams and Anastasia
Ballad - "Hushabye Mountain/Sailing On" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and composed by Alan Menken
Costume Change - "Home" by Marc Broussard
Closer - "Carry On/Hold On" by Martha Wash
i absolutely love my alma mater's show this year! it's less instantly recognizable than last year's set, but no less entertaining in my opinion. also, i think the selections show great variety and creativity - something i always appreciate in a show. i applaud the directors for picking out songs both challenging and inventive and can't wait to see how the "Swingers" do in competition this year!
I love The Journey Home. I can't wait to see Marysville!!!

This definitely dates me, but I believe Lafayette Jefferson first did that arrangement of "Imagine" in 1995 (?) when Eric and Woody were running the show there.
Hope everyone enjoyed their time at The Showcase yesterday... good luck to everyone this year.
Ben and I were talking about that earlier. I had forgotten about that until he said something, but it was in 1997.
I'm not quite sure on one number but the rest I'm quite positive of!
Opener: "Crazy" by Seal
Ballad: "Imagine" (Solo: Nick Laughlin) by (about every artist out there) But it was arranged by Eric Van Cleave and also if this rings a bell for anyone, the Ball State University Singers did it about 1 or 2 years ago.
