my reactions to yesterday's performances (only saw daytime, went to Ada to watch finals):
Teays Valley - wow, another great year is ahead of you! vocally, you did what Teays Valley is known for. choreographically, you gave the best that andy haines has to offer. showwise, overall i didn't like your show as much as i did last year, but last year was about as close to show choir perfection as you can get, so that isn't to say that i hate your show. in fact, i like this year's opener as much, if not more, than your opener from last year; the dark vibe to "Feeling Good" is really surpising and well done.
ETC - i've never seen ETC before, so i was very pleasantly surprised by how quality a group you are. vocally, you deserved to be a halfpoint away from Teays, everything was rock solid. choreographically, while i'm not a big fan of Mike Weaver choreography, it was very clean. and showwise, while i would've liked a little more energy from the opener and closer, the novelty was a-mazing (as i'm sure you guessed by the reaction of the crowd). not many ohio groups do novelty numbers, but you pulled it off with style to spare...i might even compare it to a Franklin Central number.
Olentangy - you should be very proud of yourselves. i would never have guessed that your group has only been in existence for two years by watching the way you perform, only the program gave it away! great job on having an interesting show and maybe becoming my favorite smaller choir (Lehman Catholic better watch out).
I know this was made a long time ago, but I remember our coreographer coming in and telling us about this comment and it made a world of difference in everyone's attitude about our show, so thanks!!
Well this may be a late entry I guess but better late than never. I was really impressed with so many groups. Everyone thought certain groups would sweep, but I was actually glad to see so many groups win so many different awards. It showed us all that the hard work we have been putting in has started to pay off. And man, I wanna give some major props to teays. I have never seen a group with as much class as you guys. You give everyone the respect you want in return. Thanks for just being amazing guys..........From the "Irish Dancer".....peace!

"Ok so Excelsior was outside saying our group prayer and all the stuff before we went out on stage and ETC's truck was out on the loading deck...well I was walking back to the school and I was talking to a group memeber when BAM!! I hit my head on the trucks mirror..it was SOOO FUNNY!! We all had a good laugh on that one!! ...but my head kinda hurts lol!!!"
So, if the truck has a broken mirror, I will let them know what happened...LOL.
I had a wonderful time yesterday. The competition always runs so smoothly (well, except prelim awards ;)).
Teays, loved the All Shook Up numbers. Love that arrangement of Burnin' Love. Astonishing was fantastic, as well. Way to be different and do songs you can actually sing...no Wicked, lol...although, you probably could sing Wicked well.

a note... Olentangy actually made finals, but they had a fall play to go and perform so they couldn't stay for finals. Also ETC and Teays Valley actually tied for best show concept, but they went back and asked the judges to rank the two groups (just for show concept) and ETC won the tie breaker
